In Shaun of the Dead geographc and physical settings pertaining to the city in which they live and the individual physical nature of the people involved in the film have a subconcious and very opposite of popular belief characteristics about them. If you were to immagine the kind of people who would survive a zombie apocalipsce, the first ones that come to mind are the athletic military type who setup a fortress of sorts with their massive cashe of various weaponry. Instead this movie takes the very opposite of that, focusing on everyday civilians that go to the pub every night for a pint and some good company. Zero military training at all unless you count video games but surprisingly they rise to the occasion and actually become somewhat sucsessful at surviving. You would imagine these lathargic almost zombeaic civilians would besome of the first to go except they actually manage to survive and do very well at it. The Winchestar is just and everyday pub in a geographically speaking normal town that happens to a refuge for our unlikely heros as they manage to use the london back alleys and tall thick shrubberry to make their way into a safe haven. The director uses the goelogical and physical features to make uncommon people into common heros!!
